adidas Originals starts the first mobile art guide for the iPhone

Therefore adidas Originals launches the first mobile art guide for the iPhone on March 20th, 2009. True to the motto “Celebrate Originality” adidas Originals uses the opportunity to celebrate urban art.

Interactive art guide – the city as studio

The adidas Urban Art Guide allows its users to discover urban art via the iPhone. The curated selection comprises artworks in Berlin. In addition to well-known works it also shows those that hide in hallways, backyards, behind fences or in remote places. By searching the surroundings, suggested tours or the gallery view the user explores wonderful art works and at the same gets information on the work and artist.

The guide will be constantly updated by the Urban Art Guide editorial staff. The contemplator can also act on the guide and suggest new art works directly to the editorial staff. Furthermore all pictures can be rated, commented and recommended to other users.

adidas Originals offers the Urban Art Guide for free download for the iTunes store from March 20th forward.

Launch events: Party at the Dice Club on March 20th

To celebrate the launch of the adidas Urban Art Guide a party will take place on Friday, March 20th at the Dice Club, Voltairstraße 5, starting midnight featuring the artists HITOTZUKI (Kami and Sasu) from Tokyo who will paint the club’s outer facade with their exceptional, colorful and Japan-like motifs. Nomad and Hugo Capablanca spin the turntables and paint canvases. Music: Jetaime vs. EKLO, Seuil (Paris), Tolga Fidan (Istanbul/Paris), Varoslav (Paris) und Alex Dee (Paris). Rallye on March 21st

On Saturday, March 21st starting at 2 p.m. a public rallye takes place in Berlin. Appropriately for adidas’ 60th anniversary 60 pairs of adidas Originals sneakers will be hidden as presents at 60 art works from the Urban Art Guide. Two of which will exclusively be designed by Nomad. From April 2nd forward another pair of this special edition can be purchased on ebay. The auction’s revenue will be given to the StreetUniverCity Berlin.

Street walk with press on March 20th

The Urban Art Guide editorial staff will personally present the adidas Urban Art Guide on the iPhone to press representatives on Friday, March 20th at 2 p.m. During the 60 minutes walk through Berlin-Mitte live art performances by HITOTZUKI (Kami and Sasu) from Tokyo, Nomad and Neosion from Berlin will be seen as well as selected artworks of the adidas Urban Art Guide.

In addition to the adidas Urban Art Guide as an iPhone application, the website urbanartguide.com informs users all about urban art from March 20th forward. On here, not only Berlin works are shown but also art works from metropolises all around the world. Amongst others, the site contains pictures of art works, artist portraits and interviews as well as event and book recommendations.
