Forest of One Room, a proposal of brand new living space in one room
“Forest of one room interactive scenery” was a room installation project from Naruse Inokuma Architects exhibition on 1- 4 November 2008 in Tokyo, which is one of the main events of Tokyo Designers Week 2008.

Naruse and Inokuma think it’s more attractive that you can see all the daily things and still looks lively, rather than to put all those things inside of the closet and straightened space.

Both architects are interested in the scenery space which can chage the lifestyle and personality of inhabitant and wanted to show the interactive scenery with this exhibition.

Most of the people who visited this exhibition stayed in the space more than 30 minuites. So the creator of this room are believe to have achieved a very comfortable and attractive space.

In this room (about 35 square meters), there are eight tree shaped object, that came in the same shape. With these trees, the great spaciousness emerges in one room tiny room with branches over your head to achieved various kinds of enclosed space.

The tree branches are used for hanging all the things of your daily life. The trees funsctional are like furniture, wall, and sculptures that generates the rich living space.

This project was also the realization of their idea that won a competition ROOMS DESIGN PREMIO, organized by Design Association NPO and ABLE INC. (one of the biggest real estate agent in JAPAN). The jury of the competion are Toyo Ito and Kengo Kuma.

Utterly idiotic. Toe-stubbing, head-bashing freeform “trees” everywhere. A labyrinth to drive everyone but airhead architects crazy. Grade: D for effort and F for execution.
