Green River of the University of the Gambia
Initiated by the President of the Gambia, the new University of the Gambia by Snøhetta seeks to relocate and integrate four existing formal institutions of higher education in the Gambia.

The master plan of this project is to create a “modular” faculty building that has the flexibility to bind together and prepares for the new urban development of the campus “Green River.”
The new urban development will frame the campus location for students accommodation/housing as well as the city functions in an urban context.

With this whole new area development, the new campus will set a standard for environmental issues in the Gambia, by seeking suitable solutions like the establishment of a solar park to supply the energy.
Clean water are guarantee through harvesting the water management using a power plant to take responsibility for waste management locally.

The design of the new campus is a new expression of the Gambian tradition using examples of the western campuses. Snøhetta build the new campus through analysis of the African fractal structures as the main components.
