Interview with talented young designer, Matteo Gentile
Matteo start to draw since very young, he likes to draw games characther that he desire. And when he was seven years old, Matteo start to draw vehicles, Harley Davidson motorcycle image was his favorite object at that time.
When he was at school, matteo was the worst student in his class because he spend most of his time drawing all kind of things: cars, boat, animals, people, and manga. That the start of his future because when he was 18 years old, he’s decided to study architecture but later he realise that it was too boring for him, so he starts to study the thing that he really like when he was a kid, cars and vehicles.
Matteo start studying industrial design in Rome and finish it very quickly at his very young age, and get his master in Transportation Design at Elisava school of Design in Barcelona. He is now trying to get his second master in the Seat Art center.
After finishing his master in transportation design on the age of 22, Matteo have worked in a lot of Boat and Product design for many different studios in Italy, but since he’s still to young to sign any projects then he decided to seek his career in other countries, Spain is the country where he’s working now.
Below is my interview with this very talented young designer, who are having his specialty in Industrial Design, 3D Modeling, and Environmental Graphics.
Do you have any realization of your product design, or have someone produce your design product?
Actually no in the market , but I have a lot of rapid prototype of cars, boats and objects.
Do you have award winning designs, if yes when and on what occasion?
Actually no, I have never participate to a design award and for the moment I don’t want.
What is your equipment/softwares while designing the product?
Alias studio tools, Rhino v3 and 4, maya mental ray, maxweel render, C4d, photoshop, graphic tablet and a lot of pencils, markers and letraset papers.
Do you ever participate in any exhibition, if yes when and where?
Yes a lot, in Barcelona and in Rome in a lot of culturals centers and in some design university, since the 2006.
What is your opinion about current global warming issues and the environment friendly, energy save concept for future vehicles?
The job of the designer is to draw objects, creating objects in particular cars make a lot of polution, so I’m not the first designer to be responsible but one of them in the global warning issue. I hope that in the future we will able to manage gravitation energy and solar energy to design vehicles.
There is also too many vehicles and too many brands who design the same things, which I do not like, but the only thing that I’m able to do now is drawing vehicles. And like all the young people, I’m a dreamer and I hope that I will change some things, I hope.
