La Biennale di Venezia: Before Architecture. Vor der Architektur
As an Austrian contribution to the 11th International Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia 2008 on behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, the Arts and Culture, commissioned by Bettina Götz, from ARTEC Architekten.
Vor der Architektur presents the architectural principles and content of three different outsider positions. Departing from the thesis that it is possible to regenerate architecture by interpreting common programs in surprising ways.
“Before Architecture”, developed especially for the Austrian Pavilion, has two main emphases: for one, it relates two clear-cut positions, each with its own architectural concepts; and for another, critically examines the potential of “residential building as an opportunity for architecture.”
