This is all started with (as someone said) one-of-those-days, and I don’t think that I will have been doing this at first place, but I can’t resist myself not to click on my gmail account and write an email to this nice and lovely girl.

It was all started from a stumbleupon page, when someone discovered an awesome drawing of a girl with sad eyes looking at a hanged doll. I was breathless, and said to myself this is really good.

So, then here’s me and my very first interview with the artist who draw that wonderful drawing, her name is Lora, but sorry that I forgot to ask her surname (if there’s any) ;)

Shearyadi (S): Can you tell a brief of your biography and how you become interested in drawing?

Lora (L): My biography? i won’t tell you, it’s top secret, and besides it’s really boring to tell about your own life, whatever….how i become interested…hm..how how how? As said one person i know “you are absolut-lee informativeless, can not talk with people and only thing you do good is drawing” hah! Maybe thats why, well….actually i have no real reason why. I just like it at all like to do that what i want to, like to share part of myself with others, like to be free in way of mind and absolutely unlimited or something like that.

S: Any formal education in art school or something like that. If yes please tell me where and when.

L: Nooooup! I’m 100% self-taught artist. I was born to draw hah!

S: Do you remember your very first sketch/illustration you made as a pro, and can I have that image?

L: Weeeeeell…I do, but…I wouldn’t say i made it as a pro. When i was a little-little girl i was influenced much by “looney tunes” cartoons, so I drew a pic with this characters (tazmanian devil, bugs bunny, duffy duck, etc) it was just a pic I liked (I was about 10 then, so i guess it was crap in fact)

Ok, that part above is just an introduction, but below is the best part of all. When I was first visit her site, I was again said to myself, so…this is the new artist that draws all the Gorillaz characters, wow! So, Jamie is finally get fired or something?

S: How you meet and become the artist for the Gorillaz?

L: Eeeeek! Everybody asks that hahah! Well actually i’m not artist for the gorillaz, sweetie Jamie Hewlett is only one artist for the gorillaz! Drawing of gorillaz was one of the most wierd, senseless and in same grooooviest thing i’ve ever done. Actually all pics with gorillaz i’ve drawn it is result of dispute with my brother. He said its impossible to draw them so as they are to anyone else, besides of Hewlett so thats why I started to draw this characters.

BUT it was a day what kinda have changed all my life, coz if I wouldn’t fall to all this “monkey wonder world” then i wouldn’t meet such great person as FaDe (aka Federica, who is really greatest and dearest person to me. Her support was always the bettest reason to continue to do that what I do. 2j (aka james, who really grovy fellow and owner of gorillaz-unofficial site) and of course as Jamie Hewlett. He is pure kindest man in the world, that day i meet him then..ouw my…I would say tons of good words about.

See? Everyone has that one-of-those-days and for Lora by drawing the Gorillaz characters just to show to his brother that she can do what Jamie can do, is finally open the gate for her to enter the “new world” and more “new opportunities”.

She has shown to the world her talent and what she can do with it, and more to be honest (not just because she answer my email and willing to do this interview), I like her Gorillaz character most than Jamie’s version.

S: That’s it! Thanks for your time and the opportunity :)

L: Your very welcome, have a good day. Coffee dreams and zombie screams

What a girl! I like her motto “Coffee dreams and Zombie screams”, She also told me to see her website again before I’m doing this post, and I guess she wants me to see her “Real Style” as I seen some new drawings that are completely un-Gorillaz.

And again, my impressions are still the same as my first visit to Lora’s site. This girl is really awesome artist and she can be more famous soon in the future, and I was lucky to have interviewed her before she reach that “star” category. Keep it up Lora, the world’s in your hand :)
