Molded plywood chair with the presence of a sculpture
After posting my article about their installation work “Forest of One Room” here on shearyadi.com I have another email come from Yuri Naruse of Naruse Inokuma architects regarding of their latest furniture design.

On her email, Yuri explain about a chair which won a prize in the furniture design competition organized by TENDO, a japanese funiture company who’s being famous for their butterfly stool designed by Sori Yanagi.
With this nice molded plywood chair, Yuri and Jun aimed to extract the presence and beauty of plywood that nobody had ever seen before.

To form this chair is very simple, only to bend one plywood sheet with adjusting curves carefully one by one. After making slender holes like stripe into the plywood sheet, the chair emerges.

When no one sit on the chair, it has the presence of a plywood sculpture. When people sit on the chair, it has the atmosphere as if plywood was bends naturally.

Thanks to Yuri for keeping in touch with us, looking forward for your next product design in the future!

This is great. I love new experiments in molded plywood. There is a lot of untapped potential left in it.

I adore wooden chairs because they are really made by a professional. I love the way of crafting the design. People who makes that kind of chair are very artistic.

This chair is a design copy of Dennis Abalos’ Snug Chair. The architects requested images from the Australian designer which they then used to copy the design.Apparantly the Japanese Architects were being sued.
