On an independent basis, So Takahashi set up his own studio Heads Inc. in New York in 1998, after several years of work in an established design studio.

Takahashi’s work mainly on print design, fine arts and graphic design like packaging, book cover and invitation card.

Besides doing 2D design, his studio also maintained a multidisciplinary practice, including the released of 3 music albums, window shop displays for Shiseido and making house exterior/interior design for Snøhetta’s projects.

In 2008, Takahashi releasing the Oshibori stool/side table and Origami Chair which are will be showing at Design Fra Nord in Lillestrøm Norway from January 22nd to 25th, 2009.
